The Future Dr. Burtis

Penny wants to be just like her dad when she grows up!

I noticed that on our blog we no longer put pictures of ourselves... Now I know that you want to know what we look like too;)  For Father's Day, I took Chuck and Penny out for a photo shoot and made him a picture of him and Penny.  Here are some pictures from the day.

I also got a few with her.  When we were beginning to leave I heard a rustling in the bushes and found a little frog.  Penny was curious at first and then she touched it and wanted nothing to do with it.  She acted so funny.

This was after she touched it and then I was torturing her by putting it on her.  You can see the concern in her face!
We also had a day at the beach recently and Penny had a lot of fun.  She just wanted to squish the sand as hard as she could in her hand.  She would even grunt she was squishing it so hard.  She is such a spaz!

And last but not least the random angelic picture of Penny actually cuddling and posing for a picture all at once... And she loves to wear Chuck's goggles around the house too:)

Little update..

Well I haven't updated the blog for awhile... But there hasn't been much going on here.  It is getting warmer so Chuck and I got a little kiddie pool for Penny.  She loves to splash in that pool!  For a couple of days in a row it was 90+ so she was in the pool all the time.  It was kinda a let down that after those 90+ days it went down to 57 degrees!  Can you believe that!  Well we also decided to get a little grill.  We have gotten a lot of good use out of it.  It is just a lil' charcoal Smokey Joe.  It is perfect!  We are just looking forward to some grillin', splashin' and relaxin'.

Chuck decided he wanted to make Geppedo a cover for his cage.  So he went to the fabric store and picked this awesome fabric and made it!  Isn't that so impressive!  He didn't use any sort of template or pattern, just free hand.  He also got some other fabric and made a cover for his grill and bench grinder.  I started to call him 'my little seamstress', but he got mad at me cause he thought I was calling him a girl.  So he is 'my tailor'.

Penny thought it was fun to wear the cover as a poncho, silly girl!

Random photo:  Penny ate an oreo and then licked her lips but she could only lick so far.  Thus she has quite an impressive goatee.

Who Ate My Cheese!

Chuck and I were having some cheese for a snack.  Next thing we knew a little cheese monger came and stole my piece of cheese!  I looked around and this is what I found.

When she finally finished she tossed it in the air over her shoulder.  It was very dramatic, but I wouldn't expect anything less coming from this little girl.  This is what it looked like when she was done.  Keep in mind that she only has 2 full teeth on the bottom and only 1 tooth that is 1/4 out on top.

Penny is constantly trying to change the channel on me.  She knows how to work the remote and the side of the tv.  She has now discovered how to change the input to HDMI to get her dvd.  I am constantly disciplining her without much luck because all she does is thinks it is funny, no matter how serious I tell her NO!

She is watching her movie in this picture that she turned on.  Well Chuck pushed play but she did everything else.  Smart little cookie.  In other news Chuck has been recently building projects.  His latest project he built was a work bench.  He did an awesome job! It only took him 1 day!  He did it in like 3 hours!  He is excited to get more of a collection of tools going.

I also had a big change.  I chopped of my locks of hair!  Chuck kept telling me that I would look too young.  He thought I would look 12, so when I got it done and asked him if I looked 12 and he said no, you look at least 18.  Well I guess that is good considering next month I will be 23!

Other big news is that Chuck has been really contemplating what he wants to be when he grows up.  He has recently changed his mind from Urology to Emergency Medicine.  So that means only 3 years residency, and a lot more family time:) yay!

Happy Birthday Penny!!

  LOOK WHO'S ONE!

I LOVE SHOES!

Today Penny turned 1 years old!  I can't believe how time has flown.  She is such a great little girl.  We couldn't imagine our life without her.  We remember when she was first born and she came out screaming like a banshee, not much has changed!  She is still Miss Personality and has to have everything her way.  Chuck says she is like me but I have no idea what he is talking about... She got lots of gifts from family and we like to thank you all.  Chuck and I got her some little gifts.  She got some clothes, books, and a toy lawn mower.  Now she can be like Papa B and Papa Burtis and maybe one day mow the lawn for them:)  But, the big ticket item we got her was her very first pet.  She got a Yellow Canary.  She loves to watch him. We decided to name him Geppetto.  He sings very beautifully and is so much fun!  In the morning she watches him and brings him her books.  It is very cute.  Here are some pictures to commemorate the historic day!  There is a lot of photos so make sure you look at them all and watch the videos:)

Walking Fiend!

What is new in the Burtis home?? Penny has started to walk! YAY! We are very proud of her.  She has been trying really hard since she was about 10 months and probably about the middle of February, shortly before she turned 11 months, she started to really walk.  She still gets wobbly but she also is very bow legged when she is walking.  It is so funny because she is so little and it is just this little person walking around.  I can't believe that in a couple of weeks she will be  1 year old!  This year has sure been fast.  I still don't know what to do about a cake, any suggestions? Check out this cute video.  Her hair is wild and she isn't wearing a cute outfit because she puked on her pajamas, But look how good she is!  I am so proud of her:)

I haven't been very good at writing down what she can do at what month so I will just write what she can do thus far, so then I will remember it:)
* Walk
*Say mama and dada to appropriate people.  Sometimes she will say hi and when she tries to say goodnight she say gooooood.  She has been saying this when I put her in her bed.
*Drink from her sippy cup
*Plays well with toys.
*Loves books and being read to.
*She is a mover, she is always on the move and sometimes I lose her.  She gets stuck in the strangest of places and yells for me to come find her.
* Loves her baths and swimming
* can open and close the toilet seat, this is so frustrating since now I can not leave the bathroom door open or she will inevitably climb in the tub, play in the toilet, or unroll the toilet paper.
That is all I can think of right now.  I will have to keep compiling a list so when I actually print this blog off she will have something to look back and read.
