Elmo and Other Happenings

It has been quite a while since my last update.  I am just going to sum everything up and then share some pictures.  What have we been up to?  A whole lot of nothing!  Chuck has Oct. - Dec. off and so we have just been all lazy bones and doing nothing.  Which has been quite enjoyable. Well, I guess there have been some things that we had to do.  Chuck took his Step 2 exam and feels good about.  He has also got quite a few interviews and is preparing for those.  We are excited!  What a sigh of relief!  I have never felt so much joy and stress and every other emotion at once.  It will only intensify come March when match day arrives.  Penny was recently sick.  And I mean sick.  She has never really thrown up like that before.  She also had never had a temperature of 103.  Which she had for almost 3 days straight.  It was miserable.  She is starting now to get a rash on her body, we are waiting and seeing what happens.  We don't know if she had Roseola or what.  All I know is, having a sick child really is so miserable.  I had this constant worry, and I have a sever phobia of vomit.  It was very very hard to clean up her vomit and not want to have a panic attack and vomit myself.  I know Penny has the worse end of the deal.  I have been trying to teach myself crochet.  I am making Penny play food.  I have started making a pea pod with my friend Jocelyn's help.  She is a gem and came over and taught this lady how to crochet.  I will take pictures as I go, cause they are the most adorable foods you have ever seen!  Now for picture update.  Penny has begun her obsession with Elmo.  She even sings the song Elmo's world around the house.  Listen very closely and you can hear her sing it at the end.  She tries to sing it again but gets distracted by her diaper.
We also went and visited the zoo.  It technically wasn't Penny's first visit, she went once at 3 months, but this one was much more memorable.

I tried to get more pictures but literally she was everywhere and my camera was not as fast as her.  Oh well:)  Moving on...Nothing else really going on, just a bunch of silliness!  That is how we like it here in the Burtis home.

Penny and her friend Elizabeth got into the pantry one day.  Big surprise!  Vinegar was everywhere and the smell of vinegar makes me nauseous.  It was a bad...

I guess we haven't been as boring as I thought.  We really have been busy!  I think we are actually worn out. So Penny is now going to say.... Goodnight:)

High Heels and Tattoos

Let me explain the title.  Did I get a tattoo?  No, did Chuck, NO, but did Penny.... Well it is complicated.  Just kidding, it isn't really.  She has just recently discovered all my hiding spots for pens.  Seriously, she finds those buggers everywhere.  And guess what she does....

It looks a lot cleaner than what it was really like.  She has also ruined a pair of really cute pajamas by doing this.  It doesn't make me happy but it is funny!  I mean, I don't know where she is finding all these pens.  Also, recently Penny has really gotten into putting on other peoples shoes, including her own..  She has always had quite a shoe fetish.  I don't know where she gets this from because I go quite a while without buying a pair of shoes.  The last pair of shoes I got were the ones my sister Stacey got me for Christmas last year! So technically I didn't buy those!  She must be taking after her Uncle Neil who has a pair of shoes for everything he wears:) Oh Neil...haha Anyways, she put on my high heels before church yesterday.  I love as she is walking away she lets off a frustrated grunt.  It is just so, Penny!  And if my mom is looking at this, doesn't she look absolutely adorable in her dress!

In August, we also got to have some family up to visit.  It was a BLAST!  We mostly relaxed and played outside.  We got to go to the Wisconsin Dells, to Noah's Ark.  It was so much fun!  Chuck and I had never been and we really enjoyed it.  You are probably wondering where are the pictures??  Well I didn't a.) have my camera with me at precise moments, and b.) couldn't find my camera!  So Burtis's if you are reading this some emailed photos would be much appreciated:)!

I am going off on my random tangent now.  I was looking through some old photos and can you remember when Penny looked this little?

Or pulled this face?
She has grown up so much since then.  I wish she was still so little that she would fall asleep in my arms, or didn't want me to just put her down so she can run around like a wild woman.  But,  We sure do love her dearly:)  Stay little for mom and dad will ya!
(don't mind the nap hair)

State Fair!

We took Penny for the first time to State Fair. She did fairly well... She got a little overheated and we had to declothe her, but she was ok. We got to see lots of animals, and they were all scared of Penny. She would run up to the cage and rattle the bars and they would run away.

Penny also got to meet the Sprecher mascot.  I think it is a blackbird?  I think she thought he was just a big stuffed animal that moved.

One of the fair foods I will not be trying, there isn't many words I can use to describe this, but one comes to mind...SICK!
Penny and Chuck went down the mega slide together.  Chuck says that she was laughing the whole way down.  I wish I could have gone down too but it was like $4 a person!  Rip off!
We of course had to get a cream puff!  You can't go to State Fair in Wisconsin without getting one.  Penny didn't know what to think at first, which is dumbfounding because I squirt whip cream in her mouth often.  But, she later found out that it gave her a sugar high and she got really really slap happy!

Over all a good experience, maybe the last one here in Wisconsin:(  While I am blogging,  the other day there was quite the light show in the sky.  I know my mom and dad will appreciate this, I just wish they were here!  The sky was a brilliant shade of green, purple and pink.  I have a few pictures but it was nothing compared to seeing it in real life.  Soo beautiful!

Then  few seconds later it turned a different color!  I love the strangely beautiful Wisconsin sky.

And since I kind of created my own tradition of a random picture (I didn't do it last time) I have one to share.  This one I think my sister Paige will appreciate.  When I was little I had a big Buddha belly.  Paige would often blow raspberries on it and squeeze it for a good portion of the day.  Can you guess who is following in her mama's footsteps?
Now I have someone to blow raspberries on and squeeze incessantly throughout the day!

Grama and Papa B. came to visit!

This past week my parents came and stayed for a couple of days.  It was sure nice to have them here.  It gave Penny and I a needed break from just hanging out with only each other most of the day.  We just hung out and relaxed.  Penny was quite the ham.  She will be a great performer one day:)

She liked that Papa was at the end of the slide to catch her.  She actually went down the slide without falling backwards!
Penny has this really fake smile that she likes to do.  I call it the "cheeser".  She did it almost every single day to Papa.  There was even one time where she did it to me, and then was looking for Papa and when she got his attention she did it to him.  I know the video is kinda long but wait for it.

The Future Dr. Burtis

Penny wants to be just like her dad when she grows up!

I noticed that on our blog we no longer put pictures of ourselves... Now I know that you want to know what we look like too;)  For Father's Day, I took Chuck and Penny out for a photo shoot and made him a picture of him and Penny.  Here are some pictures from the day.

I also got a few with her.  When we were beginning to leave I heard a rustling in the bushes and found a little frog.  Penny was curious at first and then she touched it and wanted nothing to do with it.  She acted so funny.

This was after she touched it and then I was torturing her by putting it on her.  You can see the concern in her face!
We also had a day at the beach recently and Penny had a lot of fun.  She just wanted to squish the sand as hard as she could in her hand.  She would even grunt she was squishing it so hard.  She is such a spaz!

And last but not least the random angelic picture of Penny actually cuddling and posing for a picture all at once... And she loves to wear Chuck's goggles around the house too:)
