June Happenings

In June, Chuck started his second year of residency.  This means he now has only one more year after this one!  I like to think of it that way because is seems shorter.  We also celebrated fathers day.  Holly started to crawl.  And Penny was her usual funny self.
Holly learned to crawl when she was just about 7 months.  She got into my cornbread and started chomping away!
There is a first for everything!  This marks the very first time Penny has ever fallen asleep while eating and sitting in her high chair.  At least it wasn't into her mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving.  HA HA!  My family should know that story all too well,  Thanks Uncle Bruce:)
The girls 'helped' me make a candy-bar poster for Chuck for Father's Day.

Aren't these 2 girls so pretty!

Our good friends, The Changs, were moving from Massachusetts to Minnesota and they stayed the night on their journey.  It was great getting to see old friends.
One day we decided to take a hike in Hocking Hills.  We had gone there when I was pregnant with Holly and we love it there.  We decided to eat before we hiked so, as tradition, we stopped and ate at Ye Olde Buffet.  When we came out of the restaurant the sky was pretty dark and intimidating.  We decided to go on anyway.  While we I was driving it started to rain, the pour, then hail, and don't forget the wind!  I thought that we were going to get stuck in a tornado.  We pulled over because it was so loud that Penny was crying.  We waited till it was over and decided that trail would be way to wet to attempt the cave hike.  So we went to a metro park and just walked around in there.

Penny is the always the princess!

Holly at 6 mos. and Shay's Birthday

Well, here we are 2 months later on an update.  I guess I haven't had a lot happening.  On the 20th this month Holly turned 6 months.  She is getting so so big.  She is starting to eat more solids, but she has a difficult time with a spoon.  She likes to stick her tongue out when eating which results in everything I just put in her mouth coming out.  It can be very frustrating!  But we are trying to be patient with each other.  She is also thinking she wants to be mobile.  She is starting to get into a push up stance.  She growls really loud when she does it too, like she is a body builder at the beach.  She is very funny.  She does not like sleeping on her stomach.  She always cries in the night when she goes on to her belly.  Though, she spends the majority of the day on her belly, so whatever...  Though most nights she sleeps 12 hours.  She is a great sleeper.  She will only take small cat naps during the day.  She is growing so fast that her 6-9 mo clothes I don't think will last her all summer!  She loves watching her sister, and laughs at her hysterically.  She loves to cuddle and be held.  She loves being outside with the warm breeze.  She had her 6 mo appointment and here were her stats:
Weight:  16 lbs. 12 oz. (75%)
Length:  25 1/2 in (50%)
Head:  17 3/4 cm (90%)

I don't know what it is, but both my kids have giant heads.  At least Holly has a lot of chub on her to even it out:)

I also had my birthday this month.  I turned 25 on the 23rd.  I can't believe I am a quarter of a century.  I can tell my body is getting older.  I am not just saying that.  I started to run again and my joints were screaming.  My stamina has a lot more endurance than my ankles and knees.  I also have had weird things happening in my body.  Chuck is going to laugh that I am writing this down, but I want to remember it one day... I had a mild elevation of my ALT in my liver, so I had an ultrasound which showed my liver was fine.  My spleen, however, is enlarged so I have another doctor's appointment in the near future.  I honestly feel fine, I don't think I have much symptoms of anything besides being tired all the time.  I bet by the time I get to the doctor, everything will have cleared itself up.  Anyways, I had a great birthday.  Chuck made me french toast for breakfast.  Then I had to take Penny to a speech appointment, where we found out that she does not need speech therapy! Then I went shopping by myself for a little while:)  Then we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and came home and ate cake and opened presents.  Chuck really spoiled me.  I got some flowers and some very nice perfume.  He also made me a cake all by himself!  What a great husband I have:)  He made me feel special on my special day.

I am realizing that I never blogged about Easter, so here are the girls in their Easter dresses.  It was really difficult to get pictures, especially with Penny.

Big Beautiful Eyes!
Not a very attractive picture but Penny's expression sums up the day. It is like she is 14 and saying, "Mom, enough pictures, you are embarrassing me!"
Like I said, impossible to get a good picture together.

I think she was about to sneeze?  I thought it was a funny picture.

Here are some random pictures.
We had a little Easter egg hunt in our neighborhood.

Chuck has a fellow resident that is so so nice!  For Penny's Birthday she gave her this princess tutu, crown, and jewelry.  I got the gloves at a RS activity and Penny was obsessed with them.
I captured some random moments when Penny plays with Holly.  I think that Penny really loves her sister.  She is always making sure that she is taken care of.  I don't think there has been really a time where she has lashed out at her.  She has been such a great big Sister!!  She loves to play with Holly.

Penny is 3!

Last week, on March 20 Penny turned 3! I can't even believe that she is that old, not that that is old but it really feels like she was just born. Another girl, Kaylee, in the apartments that we live in also was born on the 20th so they had a joint birthday party. Penny was SO EXCITED! And that is an understatement. The party was princess themed and they decorated crowns, and cookies. Penny had so much fun. Chuck and Penny slept, I don't even know how that was possible because it was SO LOUD. But they did and it was funny! She opened her presents and got a lot of My Little Pony, a wagon, clothes, puzzles, and princess shoes. Overall her Birthday was very fun day!

Penny blew out all her candles this year, it was super funny.  She couldn't quite get the hang of it so it took almost 10 minutes to get them all but she eventually did blow them all out, and then wanted them lit up again.  She kept saying," MORE FIRE! MORE FIRE!"  She also had her 3 year doctor appointment and her stats were as follows:

Height:  35 in (10%)
Weight:  28lbs (25%)
 Head: 19? (I think) (97%)

She is definitely shaped like a lollipop.  Holly also turned 4mo on Penny's birthday so we had her doctor appointment too.  Here are her stats:
Weight:  13lbs 8 oz (50%)
Length:  231/2 in (50%)
Head:  15 1/2cm (75%)

What can I say my kids have huge heads. They get it from Chuck, but really they could also get it from me, you just wouldn't be able to tell with all my hair:)
It hasn't been very nice weather here, spring decided to keep vacationing but that hasn't stopped us from taking out the wagon.

This week we also cleaned the bird cage and Penny was so excited that the bird was flying around.  She really wanted to hold him.  She has shown some interest in the past but this day she was super intent on holding the bird.

Penny has been saying funny things.  Yesterday she was really upset and was getting hungry. I had made roast with carrots and potatoes and we were just waiting for the potatoes to cook.  I asked her if she was hungry and she said, "ya mom!  I hungy!  I want a carrot!  I want a carrot, please, Mom?"  She never eats fruits or vegetables so this was very surprising.  She also sings this song she and Chuck kinda made up together, it is called Boca Dee.  The words are boca boca deeka dee boca boca scary.  She came up with it when she spoke more alien then English.  So, now she asks people to sing her the song of Boca Dee.  It is funny to us:)  Hopefully that kinda brings me up to date.
